San Sebastián, Spain – April 24th, 2026 – Multiverse Computing, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Marubeni Corporation, one of Japan’s largest trading companies. The agreement marks a key step toward the introduction and large-scale deployment of Multiverse Computing’s CompactifAI technology in the Japanese market.
Under the terms of the agreement, Marubeni will lead a comprehensive market study throughout fiscal year 2026 to evaluate demand and use cases for CompactifAI across Japan’s industrial landscape. The initiative aims to lay the groundwork for a full commercial rollout of the technology in partnership with Multiverse Computing.
Unlocking Efficient AI with CompactifAI
CompactifAI is Multiverse Computing’s proprietary AI model compression solution, built using quantum-inspired techniques based on tensor networks. Unlike conventional model compression approaches, which often sacrifice performance for efficiency, CompactifAI enables:
• Up to ~90% reduction in model size
• Minimal accuracy loss of just 2–3%
• Significant improvements in processing speed
• Reduced cloud and infrastructure costs
• Lower energy consumption, supporting sustainable AI
This breakthrough allows large-scale AI models to run efficiently on reduced computational resources, making advanced AI viable in environments where it was previously impractical including edge devices, in-vehicle systems, and secure on-premise infrastructures.
Addressing Japan’s AI and Infrastructure Challenges
Japan’s rapid adoption of generative AI has introduced critical challenges, including rising data center energy consumption, limited compute availability, and escalating operational costs driven by GPU demand. Through this collaboration, Multiverse Computing and Marubeni aim to directly address these issues.
By leveraging CompactifAI and its compressed AI models, Japanese enterprises will be able to:
• Optimize AI workloads and reduce reliance on costly infrastructure
• Deploy AI solutions with lower environmental impact
• Enable secure, sovereign AI deployments within domestic and on-premise environments
Strategic Expansion into Japan
“This partnership with Marubeni represents a major milestone in Multiverse Computing’s global expansion,” said Iraia Ibarzabal, Chief Growth Officer at Multiverse Computing. “Japan is a highly strategic market for AI innovation, and CompactifAI is uniquely positioned to help organizations scale AI efficiently while reducing cost and environmental impact.”
Following the completion of the market study, both companies intend to move toward a full-scale rollout of CompactifAI across key sectors in Japan, supporting industrial innovation and the development of more sustainable digital infrastructure.
“Through this collaboration with Multiverse Computing, we see significant potential to address some of Japan’s most pressing challenges in AI deployment, particularly around energy consumption and infrastructure efficiency,” said Tomohide Sakuma, Deputy General Manager, Next Generation Business Exploration & Development Dept.at Marubeni Corporation. “CompactifAI offers a highly differentiated approach to model optimization, and we look forward to exploring its applications across multiple industries in Japan as part of our commitment to driving innovation and sustainable digital transformation.”
