Madrid, October 29, 2025 – Indra Group and Multiverse Computing have just signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance the technological sovereignty of defense systems, one of the goals included in the Armed Forces modernization programs also known as the Special Modernization Programs (PEM).
Teams from both companies will collaborate to develop highly optimized artificial intelligence (AI) models. By combining the unique capabilities of the Basque company and the supercomputing resources of the Spanish multinational, they aim to sovereignly enhance the algorithms of such systems, especially in SWaP-constrained environments (Size, Weight, and Power).
Ángel Escribano, Executive Chairman of Indra Group, and Enrique Lizaso, Co-founder and CEO of Multiverse Computing, highlighted the importance of this alliance for both companies and for the collaborative model of the defense industry.

Differential Capabilities for the Modernization of the Armed Forces
This is not the first collaboration between Indra Group and Multiverse Computing. Almost two years ago, the Basque company was recognized in the “Signal Intelligence” category of The FCAS Challenge, an Indra initiative to identify and promote the innovation of Spanish startups, SMEs, and research centers that could join the future European Air Combat System.
Indra Group, the industrial coordinator of the FCAS program in Spain, values Multiverse Computing’s specialization in quantum-inspired software development and efficient AI. Thanks to its ability to optimize existing algorithms, the San Sebastián–based company has achieved lower computational and energy consumption, resulting in differential, sovereign, ethical, and responsible AI.
The agreement with Multiverse Computing is part of the execution of the major modernization programs of the Armed Forces, which, once formalized into contracts, will help advance strategic and industrial autonomy in defense. They will also enable the creation of over 3,000 direct engineering and production jobs within Indra Group and across its value chain.
The technology and defense company intends to carry out these new programs through its network of partners. It currently has over 1,000 collaborators and expects around 200 new additions among suppliers and industrial partners throughout Spain.
